Zola: a language to operationalise conceptual models of reasoning

چکیده
This paper presents Zola, a language that allows the operationalisation of conceptual models of expertise. Zola is a general knowledge representation language, more specifically defined to support the definition of conceptual models by Knowledge Level prototyping. It does not include constructions specific to a particular methodology (as tasks or roles), but provides general primitives that allow the definition of such specific concepts. The objective is, by providing a “neutral” language, to allow the modelling team to elaborate a conceptual model with the least possible bias introduced by the language concepts. Zola provides three levels of representation: domain knowledge, operations (that can manipulate the domain knowledge), and strategies (algorithms). Zola is a reflective language: operations can analyse other operations. This allows the construction of reflective operations that can give the modelling team some feed-back on the implemented model. After a short presentation of the objectives of the project underlying Zola construction, we describe how Zola has been used to operationalise a conceptual model of reasoning for a fault diagnosis system. Finally, we analyse Zola according to criteria proposed in the literature to compare such languages.

This study aimed at examining the main and interaction effects of increased intentional reasoning demands, planning time, and also language learning aptitude on syntactic complexity, accuracy, lexical complexity, and fluency (CALF) of 226 EFL learners’ performance on letter writing tasks. The participants were first randomly assigned to three experimental groups to be given a task with differin...
متن کاملConceptual Metaphoric Language Use in Structuring Political Discourse in Iran-West Relations: A CDA Perspective
The present study was carried out with the purpose of examining the role of metaphorical language in the critical discourse analysis (CDA) of political texts based on a modern framework postulated by Kövecses (2015). The corpus of the study consisted of thirty-thousand words chosen as a textual sample to see which source conceptual domains are used and what generic/discursive attributes emerge ...
متن کاملTowards a Sustainable Anti-Corruption Strategy: An Ethic-Induced Model
Literature abounds to show that the current anti-corruption strategies have failed to fight corruption because of neglect of ethics in these strategies, despite its importance. The purpose of this paper is to make a contribution to anti-corruption theory by developing a model that clarifies many complex ethical dilemmas around corruption. To develop a conceptual model, the extant literatures on...
متن کاملBourdieu and Genette in Paratext: How Sociology Counts in Linguistic Reasoning
While Bourdieu’s theory of practice provides an ensemble of conceptual tools which analyze patterns of social life that are irreducible to the limiting view of individuals as free-acting agents, Genette’s paratextual theory offers the metalanguage necessary to account for the microcosm of paratext as a linguistic space. This study takes issue with unidirectional approaches to researching parate...
متن کاملA Comparison of Languages which Operationalise and Formalise KADS Models of Expertise
In the field of Knowledge Engineering, dissatisfaction with the rapid-prototyping approach has led to a number of more principled methodologies for the construction of knowledgebased systems. Instead of immediately implementing the gathered and interpreted knowledge in a given implementation formalism according to the rapid-prototyping approach, many such methodologies centre around the notion ...
